How old does my child have to be to do DEVO?
DEVO is for kids ages 5-18 years of age. All riders must have the ability to ride their bicycle unassisted (no training wheels) in order to register for the Nebraska DEVO program.
What does my child need to bring?
Your child needs a safe bike, a properly fitted helmet, close-toed shoes and a water source. Most kids’ bikes are too small to hold a water bottle cage so we suggest a hydration pack they can wear. We also highly suggest spraying down your child(ren) with bug spray as the mosquitoes can get very prominent in the shade on hot summer nights.
How will I know if a session in cancelled due to weather?
In cases of severe weather or excessive heat, cancellations will be posted on Facebook by 5 p.m. All site lead coaches additionally may utilize text and/or e-mail for any important reminders specific to their locations at any time.
Sometimes bad weather can blow in very quickly in the summer between 5 p.m. and the start of our session; we will do our best to quickly get the word out if a last minute cancellation needs to be called.
Please note, it is possible for weather and conditions to vary between our parks in northwest Omaha, Bellevue, Lincoln, and Norfolk.
Sometimes practice will need to be cancelled, even when the sun is shining. Why? Dirt trails need to be treated with care. Riding on muddy trails can cause serious damage that will take THOR's Trail Care Crew members, land managers, or municipalities many hours to repair.
Please stay tuned to Facebook for updates if we have received heavy rain 24 hours prior to practice time.
If a Monday session is cancelled, Thursday of that same week will be the makeup day for that practice, same evening hours as regular schedule. Additionally, we reserve the first Monday in August as a makeup day.
What is Nebraska DEVO’s refund policy?
Parents must e-mail a refund request with your child(ren)’s name(s) and reason for your refund request @ info@nebraskadevo.org. Refunds may be issued with at least 21 days notice before the start of the program and a 50% refund may be issued with at least 14 days notice before the start of the program. No refunds will be allowed within 14 days of the start of the program, with funds donated to our scholarships for underserved communities.
